Product Description
blouse lila

The Odilia Blouse lilac with lilac embroidery has a sleeve length of 3/4, is very fresh, and highlights all the embroidery on the shoulders. The neck can be closed by interlacing the threads or leaving it open. The cut is wide with a very ethnic style, part of it is precisely to highlight the joints in the shoulders, neck, and edges with threads of another color. There is one size fits all.

These blouses are very versatile, as they can be combined with jeans as well as with formal pants or skirts. Accessories would add a more or less formal touch. The sleeves are an eye-catcher.

They are made in the San Juan del Rio Oaxaca community and combine the backstrap loom technique and crochet in their elaboration. The backstrap loom pieces are seen on the shoulders, which belong to San Juan Colorado or Cotzocon, and then crochet is used to join the details and along all the edges which are done in San Juan del Rio.

Each piece is unique and unrepeatable so it has its own peculiarities of its manual manufacture, these small imperfections should not be seen as flaws but as part of its unique character.

The elaboration time of the Odilia Blouse lilac with lilac embroidery takes around 3 weeks.

Odilia, San Juan del Río, Oaxaca

Dresses knit with crochet

She belongs to a group of eight artisans who learned this technique from their mothers when they were six years old. They decided to form their collective five years ago to preserve the tradition and provide a livelihood for their families.

Each one has a different responsibility: cutting, sewing, weaving and so forth. They also work together with other artisans, since the looms used in their dresses come from other communities. They require approximately one month to make a dress.

Odilia is a very responsible and willing woman. She is always attentive to what I ask and is very open to receive opinions, as well as to make proposals. Without a doubt, I was very lucky that she accepted to work with me.
