The AIRE frayed cape is the perfect complement for your sunny days. Wear it at the beach, pool, lake, or park, on an endless number of occasions where you want to feel comfortable but spectacular at the same time.

These capes can be worn over a bathing suit or over a tank top and jeans, or shorts. Complement it with some nice earrings and you will look radiant on your sunny days.

The capes are open on the sides and we also have a version that has an opening in the front, as if it were a robe.

The technique used to make them is backstrap loom. Our garments are handmade with love by women from Chiapas.

Each piece is unique and unrepeatable so it has its own peculiarities of its manual manufacture, these small imperfections should not be seen as flaws but as part of its unique character.

AIRE frayed capes

Ofelia, Larrainzar, Chiapas

Huipiles, blouses, capes and bags in backstrap loom

Ofelia has been embroidering for 20 years and belongs to a collective of 10 people. Most of the artisans have learned the work since they were little girls, they learned by playing with their mother's leftover threads.

Ofelia says that she used leftover thread from her mother´s orders , to assemble a small loom for her. This is how essentially she got into it. You can sense her passion for embroidery when she talks about this story.

Her mother is a woman with an extraordinary energy, active in every way. They both are very hard working women who open the doors of their home without hesitation.

I was delighted to meet them and to see the love and commitment they put into their work.
